In Bangkok, it has 2 famous floating markets that only open on every weekend from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., “Khlong Lad Mayom Floating Market” and “Taling Chan Floating Market”. If you have to choose only one place to visit, I will recommend you to go to “Khlong Lad Mayom Floating Market” because it’s bigger and have a lot more to see, eat and shop.

Or if you want to go both, that’s fine. Because they’re on the same route. Go to “Taling Chan Floating Market” first because you will pass it first then follow by “Khlong Lad Mayom Floating Market”.

2. “Taling Chan Floating Market”

“Taling Chan Floating Market” located far from our Central Old Town Cottage inn 9 kilometers. You can get there by taxi within about 15 minuets depend on the traffic.

To be honestly it look like a raft for eating more than a floating market. If you want to see something fancy, you have to buy a long tail boat tour from here at the ticket counter in front of the pier. They have 3 choices of tour for you to choose.

  • Taling Chan Floating Market to Wat Sapan Fioating Market to Lad Mayom Floating Market
  • Taling Chan Floating Market to Wat Kor temple
  • Taling Chan Floating Market to The Artist House (Thai Puppet show)

First one from Taling Chan Floating Market to Wat Sapan Floating Market to Lad Mayom Floating Market. It has only 1 time/day, 99 baht/person, departure time is 9.45 a.m. on every weekend. Please note that this tour fully book very fast. So if you want to join it, you have to arrive there before 9 a.m. This trip will take you to another 2 floating markets by long tail boat. Whole trip takes 2.30 hours. You will have free time at each market for 20 minutes.

Second one from Taling Chan Floating Market to Wat Kor temple. Kor (sometime call Koh) in Thai means island. We called this temple Wat Kor because it located on convergence point of 2 canals, so it look like located on island. It is just small temple, nothing special. This trip takes 1 hour, 69 baht/person. You will ride along small canals with scenery of Thai local houses and banana, coconut gardens to Wat Kor temple that takes 20 minuets. You will have free time to take photo there 20 minuets. After that they will take you to Wat Pak Nam Fang Tai temple that’s not far from Wat Kor temple to enjoy feeding fishes from the boat that you ride and return.

Third one from Taling Chan Floating Market to The Artist House where located at Khlong Bang Luang Community. It has 1 time/day, 99 baht/person, departure time is 1.30 p.m. only on the weekend that they have a show (Normally Thai Puppet show start at 2 p.m. on weekend, wed and fri. But sometime they have to show outside, so they will cancel their free show at The Artist House on that day.) This whole trip takes 2 hours. You will have free time at Khlong Bang Luang Community which has a lot more to see for 1 hour.
