Wat Phrachetuphon (Wat Pho), temple of Reclining Buddha

Wat Phrachetuphon Wimonmangkhalaram is the first class royal monastery of Ratchaworamahawiharn, was originally an old temple from Ayuthaya period named Wat Photaram. But people always call it “Wat Pho”.
On the marble slabs around the temple, you can see scattering intellectuals and texts that King Rama3 ordered to gather them, which people could read and learn from. It was regarded as Thailand’s first university.
There are plenty of religious buildings and objects worth to observe and to study from, such as the Reclining Buddha, Phra Maha Chedi of 4 Reigns, Statute of Hermit demonstrating the various position of massage and several Chinese stone dolls.
